Mission and programs

(a)The organization is the organized medical staff that California law (Bus. & Prof. Code sec. 2282, 22CCR sec. 70703) requires for physicians practicing in a hospital. Its primary responsibility is oversight of the quality of care provided by members, accomplished through credentialing of applicants and members, and peer review of care, and representing the interest of members in relations with hospital administration, and board.(b)Although the organization was established many years ago when Sutter Santa Rosa Regional Hospital was first licensed by the California Department of Public Health, the medical staff only assumed responsibility for its own financial affairs as of November 21, 2022 when it secured an employer identification number as part of the exemption process. Prior to this date the management of the financial affairs of the medical staff were conducted directly by Sutter Santa Rosa Regional Hospital, which maintained a medical staff account with the medical center's bank
