Setting Up Your Organization

Organization Setup

Properly configuring your organization's settings ensures accurate financial reporting, compliant tax receipts, and a smooth experience for your team and donors.

Basic Information

Navigate to Administration → Organization Settings to configure:

  • Organization Name: Your nonprofit's legal name exactly as registered with the IRS. This appears on all tax receipts and official documents.

  • EIN (Employer Identification Number): Your 9-digit tax ID number. Required for generating IRS-compliant donation receipts.

  • Address: Your organization's physical mailing address. Used on receipts and correspondence.

  • Phone Number: Primary contact number for your organization.

  • Website: Your organization's website link (displayed on donation pages).

  • Logo: Upload your logo for branding on receipts, donation pages, and reports.

Fiscal Year Settings

Your fiscal year determines how financial reports are generated and when year-end processes occur. Most nonprofits use one of these:

  • Calendar Year (December 31): Most common, aligns with tax year

  • June 30: Common for educational institutions and organizations aligned with academic years

  • September 30: Aligns with the federal fiscal year, common for government-funded organizations

  • Custom: Any month-end date that works for your organization

Important: Changing your fiscal year after you've entered transactions requires careful planning. Contact support if you need to make this change.

Currency & Regional Settings

  • Primary Currency: USD is the default. Multi-currency support available on Enterprise plans.

  • Date Format: Choose MM/DD/YYYY or DD/MM/YYYY based on your preference.

  • Time Zone: Ensures all timestamps are accurate for your location.

  • Number Format: Configure decimal separators and thousands grouping.

Tax Receipt Settings

Configure how donation receipts are generated and sent:

  • Auto-send Receipts: Automatically email receipts when donations are recorded

  • Receipt Template: Customize the thank-you message and branding

  • Tax-Deductibility Statement: Standard IRS language is included by default

  • Signature: Add an authorized signature image for official receipts
