Recurring Gifts

Recurring gifts flow through recurring payment schedules created on giving pages, in Process Payment mode, or via the public donation form. Each successful charge creates a donation row, journal entry, and receipt automatically. Alignmint tracks whether a donor is one-time, recurring-only, or both based on completed gift history.

Common Tasks

Help a donor update their card

1. Send a portal magic link from Donor CRM or ask the donor to use their existing portal login.
2. In the portal, open Manage Payments to reach the self-service billing portal.
3. The donor updates the payment method, amount, or cancels at period end without calling your office.

Review billing day for monthly sustainers

1. Open the donor profile under a parent organization view.
2. Read the recurring payment card for next charge and billing anchor day (for example, the 8th of each month).
3. Follow up personally if Giving Overview shows missed months for that donor.

Good to Know

Monthly recurring gifts bill on the anchor day established at signup—not necessarily the calendar day the donor first gave. Future-dated anchors may use a SetupIntent first; the first invoice can arrive on the anchor date rather than immediately.

Donor self-service uses the consolidated self-service billing portal for payment method updates, cancellation with reason collection, and invoice history. Staff should not ask donors to share card numbers by email.

Recurring gifts require online payment payment processing on the receiving organization. Donor Hub and portal access follow your plan; there is no separate recurring add-on fee beyond normal online payment processing and any Minties used for related marketing sends.
