Volunteer Background Checks

Alignmint helps you track background check status for your volunteers so you always know who's cleared and who needs attention. This is especially important for organizations working with children, vulnerable populations, or in regulated environments.

What You Can Track

• Status: Pending, Approved, Expired, or Not Required
• Expiration Date: Set when the check expires (most organizations require annual renewal)
• Renewal Reminders: Get notified when a volunteer's background check is approaching expiration
• Notes: Add internal notes about the check (provider name, reference number, etc.)

How It Works

Background check tracking is built into each volunteer's profile in the People Hub. When you view a volunteer's details, you'll see their current background check status with a clear badge (green for approved, yellow for pending, red for expired).

Requiring Checks for Activities

You can set certain volunteer activities or events to require an approved background check. Volunteers without clearance will be flagged so coordinators know to follow up before the event.

Where to Find It

Background check status appears on each volunteer's profile in the People Hub. The Volunteer Settings page in the People Hub includes a callout linking to the dedicated Background Checks tool in the Tools hub for organization-wide management.
