AlignMint stays the books. Ramp stays the place your team spends on cards. The connection sends your chart of accounts and the funds you can spend from to Ramp. A card charge coded in Ramp then posts to the expense account and fund chosen on that swipe. Bills, reimbursements, and donor gifts are not part of this connection. A check you write in the office still uses Record payment in AlignMint.

Open Administration → Financial Integrations on the parent organization, then choose Ramp. That section is not open in the live product yet. Until it is, record the card expense in Expenses or post a balanced entry in Journal Entries, and keep coding the swipe in Ramp.

What the connection will do

A parent-organization director or accountant connects that organization's Ramp account once. Cardholders keep working in Ramp. They do not sign in to Ramp from AlignMint.

• Chart and funds: Ramp receives the expense accounts and funds AlignMint already uses, so a swipe can be coded before it posts.

• Card charges: A coded swipe posts on the date it clears, not the day it was authorized. The expense uses the account and fund chosen in Ramp. The other side of the entry uses the card clearing account from Account Defaults on the same fund.

• Needs attention: A swipe with a missing fund, a closed period, a date before you choose to start posting, or a split that does not add up waits as a whole. AlignMint does not post part of it. Set the fund and account on that row, then post it.

What stays outside Ramp

Donor, event, and store payments stay on your giving and payment setup. Payroll stays with your payroll provider. Bank statements stay on the bank connection. Ramp does not replace those.

The bank withdrawal that pays the card balance is still reviewed in Bank GL Posting Queue. That payoff credits cash and debits the same card clearing account. It does not post by itself.

Good to Know

Map the card clearing account under Account Defaults in Chart of Accounts before the first swipe can post. A missing clearing account blocks posting. It does not guess an account. Related: Expense Tracking, Journal Entries, Bank Reconciliation.
