The notification panel (bell icon in the header) is your personal inbox for donation alerts, approval requests, payment issues, to-do reminders, and system messages. Click any item to jump to the related donor, expense, waiver, or dashboard to-do. Unread items mark themselves read shortly after you open the panel. Volunteer and donor portal users do not see staff notifications.

Where to find it

Click the bell in the top navigation bar. The panel lists recent items with icons by category—donations, alerts, approvals, and system updates. A badge shows your unread count. A live connection indicator confirms real-time delivery when new events arrive.

Common notification types

  • Donations: New gifts—click through to the donor profile in Donor CRM.
  • Approvals: Pending expenses, reimbursements, or volunteer hours awaiting action.
  • Payment alerts: Failed recurring gifts, card expiring soon, or payment gateway issues—parent org admins route to Donor Payment Management; fund users open the donor record.
  • To-dos: Assigned, due tomorrow, or overdue items link to the dashboard with ?todoId= so the specific row highlights.
  • Waivers: Pending signatures or completed waiver uploads.

Manage notifications

Click the trash icon in the panel header to enter selection mode. Check individual rows, then confirm delete—there is no per-row trash icon in normal view. Opening the panel marks unread items as read after about 1.5 seconds so you can still see which ones were new.

Not the same as Global Alerts

Notifications are personal inbox items for your account. Global Alerts (administration) are organization-wide banners broadcast to all staff—see org settings documentation for broadcast messages.

Plan availability

Staff notifications are available to authenticated users on Free, Plus, Pro, and Enterprise plans. Portal-only roles (volunteers and donors) use separate experiences without the staff bell icon.
