Action Items

Quick Answer: Action Items

Action Items is your Pro and Enterprise workspace for tracking follow-up work created globally, in meetings, or from Objectives. It supports multiple assignees, rich filters, and direct links to the meeting or objective that originated the task.

Find it under My Workspace. The dashboard To-Do List is a separate compact widget available on all plans; Action Items is the fuller workspace view on Pro and Enterprise.

What Action Items Shows

Action Items gives your team one organized place for work that spans meetings, objectives, and daily operations. Open and Completed tabs let you keep active follow-ups front and center without losing completed history. Each row shows title, assignees, due date, status, priority, and the meeting or objective the item is linked to—so context travels with the task.

On wider screens the list is a full table; on smaller screens each row becomes a compact card. Both presentations keep touch targets accessible and preserve clear focus states.

Creating and Editing Action Items

Use the global create button in My Workspace, or create action items directly from a meeting panel or Objective. The editor covers:

  • Title and description — multi-line descriptions are preserved and shown in the detail drawer
  • Assignees — assign to one or more eligible staff members; the current user is selected by default on new items
  • Due date, priority, and status — Open statuses include To Do, In Progress, and Blocked; Completed is a separate state
  • Recurrence — recurring items complete as one canonical record and generate the next occurrence once

If a save fails, the draft stays open with an inline error so no work is lost.

Filters, Search, and Sorting

Filter the Open or Completed tab by assignee, status, or association (meeting or objective source). Debounced search commits after a brief pause. View, filter, search, and sort changes all reset paging so you always start from the first matching result. Sort choices are deterministic so the same filters return the same row order across sessions.

Detail Drawer and Deep Links

Clicking a row title opens the detail drawer without navigating away. The drawer loads the canonical item record—title, description, assignees, due date, status, priority, recurrence, comments, and linked sources. Readable meeting occurrences and objectives link back to their source so you can follow context in one click.

The URL updates when a detail drawer opens, so you can share or bookmark a direct link to any action item. Browser back and forward restore the same state; closing the drawer removes only the item parameter and preserves all other filters.

Meeting and Objective Integration

Action items created inside a meeting or from an Objective remain linked without duplicating the record. In recurring meetings, a manager can enable Carry over to next meeting—the same item stays visible in later occurrences until it is completed or opted out. No task, comment, assignee, or notification is copied. Disabling carry-over preserves the item through the selected occurrence; reopening a completed item does not restart carry-forward.

What You Can Do

  • Create action items from My Workspace, a meeting panel, or an Objective
  • Assign work to multiple staff members in your organization
  • Filter and search across Open and Completed tabs by assignee, status, or source
  • Open a URL-addressable detail drawer to edit, comment, or share a direct link
  • Link existing action items to meetings or objectives using the shared item picker
  • Enable carry-over in recurring meetings so follow-ups stay visible until done

Good to Know

Action Items requires Pro and Enterprise. The dashboard To-Do List is the compact widget available on Free and above; it shares the same underlying tasks but is not the full workspace view. Assignment authority is separate from status authority—assignees can update status without being able to reassign the item or edit its title, description, or recurrence. Recurrence history is protected; items with recurrence links cannot be permanently deleted. Task content, comments, and assignee names are never included in session-level data shared across users.
