Giving Setup

Quick Answer: Giving Setup

Giving Setup is where a parent organization director connects a secure payment processor so online gifts, event tickets, and other card checkout across Alignmint settle to your nonprofit's bank account. Open it from Administration → Giving Setup, complete the guided steps, and check the connection until it shows ready.

Giving Setup is available on every plan, including Free, because accepting gifts should never be gated. It works hand in hand with Payment Processing for fees and accepted methods, Donation Pages for where donors give, and Donation Settlement for reconciling payouts.

All plans. Connecting an account requires a director at the parent organization.

Connect Your Payment Processor

From Administration → Giving Setup, a director sees a setup card with clear choices: create a new payment account or connect an existing one. Pick a path, complete the processor's identity and bank details, and return to Alignmint. Use Check connection to confirm the account is fully active before you turn on checkout.

Setup Steps

  1. Sign in as a director and select the parent organization in the header
  2. Open Administration → Giving Setup
  3. Choose create a new payment account or connect an existing one
  4. Complete the processor's business and bank verification, then return
  5. Select Check connection until the status shows ready

Good to Know

Payment credentials live at the parent organization level, so one setup covers every fund under your account and child funds inherit the connection. Directors can also open the payout dashboard, update bank details, and sync recurring gifts from the same screen. Once the status is ready, gifts from your donation pages and the Donor Portal process automatically and post to your books.
